While in Florida we did several things. Here are a few highlights:
We went on an air boat ride on Lake Trafford. It's a huge lake infested with alligators! There were plenty of heron birds along the shore. We left our camera in the car and we rode with Jana's Grandparents. It rained most of the boat trip, the only day that rained all day on our trip.
We also went to Typhoon Lagoon...a huge water park on Disney property. We relaxed on a tube, went down several water slides and swam in the Surf Pool. Every 90 seconds, a huge wave comes down! My favorite part was to swim with Leopard sharks and sting rays. The biggest shark was about 5 feet long. Jana opted out of this! They have a new 'water-coaster' called Crush 'n Gusher. It's our favorite water slide and we rode on it 3 times. It's a fun place for the whole family...next time we will bring the little ones!
On our way back visiting Jana's Grandparents in Punta Gorda FL, we stopped at a beach near Sarasota Florida. We went to the public beach on Siesta Key. It's a beautiful, shallow beach with white sand and warm water. It was a relaxing afternoon for us before heading back to our hotel in Kissimmee.
Of course we took the time to visit Disney. One day we visited 3 parks, focusing on the thrill rides that we couldn't do with the kids. The next day, we went to the Magic Kingdom for the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Many people dressed up in costumes. The park workers passed out lots of candies. We probably brought home close to 10 lbs of candy.
We missed the space shuttle by 10 minutes...we were shopping at an outlet mall. As we left the mall to go back to the car, there were people facing east with cameras. We looked up and saw the smoke from the shuttle. We asked a passerby about it, he said it was from the space shuttle. Here is the picture of what we saw:
We had a great time in Florida but we are happy to be back home. We are looking forward to the big family vacation this coming February to Mexico!
